preserving tradition
Hayworth Athletic remains committed to the craft of hand-making. Our process involves rare expertise that has been passed down for generations. By maintaining this tradition, we believe that a high-quality handmade ball not only lasts longer but also plays with unmatched purity.
crafting the panels
The dried sheets are cut into the iconic hexagon and pentagon panels using CNC molds for precision. Each panel is then hand-coated with a thermo-activated seam sealant for water resistance. Once the sealant is applied, a custom scuff-proof paint is hand-painted onto the panels, ensuring a flawless and durable surface. Finally, valve panels are punched, and the bladders are securely attached.

The stitching process is where the artistry truly shines. Our expert stitchers use high-strength waxed thread to sew each of the 32 panels by hand, a process that can take between two to three hours per ball. The hand-stitching ensures deep seams, enhancing the ball's durability and water resistance.
tested for quality
Once the stitching is complete, each ball is measured across three axes to ensure sphericity. Our team carefully inspects every ball for any flaws or imperfections. Exposed stitches and other issues are addressed to meet our exacting standards of quality.
