House Rules

How the bracket runs

The bracket files in two stages.

Stage one — group picks. Sealed at first whistle, June 11. Each filer ranked first, second, and third in all twelve groups and named the eight third-placed teams they believed would reach the Round of 32. Eight of the twelve do.

Stage two — knockouts. Opens the night of June 27, after the final group whistle, once FIFA has filled the Round of 32. Winners through the Final, plus a tiebreaker. We will write before the window opens.
